SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake Bees broadcaster Steve Klauke has seen games of every single sort during his time in the Smith’s Ballpark press box.

From blowout wins to heartbreaking losses, Klauke has seen 3,000 games of Salt Lake’s latest incarnation of Minor League Baseball, and called another Bees victory Tuesday as Salt Lake finished off its homestand with a 5- 1 victory over the Nashville Sounds.

In a booth filled with media guides from every big league club, and with copious notes on players for each team, Klauke is famous for phrases like “It’s up there, it’s out there, it’s gone!” to celebrate home runs.

Bees broadcaster Steve Klauke called his 3000th game as the franchise's play-by-play announcer.

Salt Lake scored four runs in the first inning against the Sounds. First, J.B. Shuck hit a two-run home run to right field. Then, Luis Jimenez scored on an Ian Stewart sacrifice fly, and Zach Borenstein scored on a Roberto Lopez single.

From there on out there was little offense but the Bees scored a single run in the sixth as John Hester scored on a Matt Long single. The Sounds scored a run in the top of the sixth, but it was inconsequential as the Salt Lake victory gave the Bees a 3-5 record in the homestand.

Bees starter Jarrett Grube earned the win, pitching six innings of one-run ball to move his record to 5-2 on the season. Sounds starter Johnnie Lowe recorded only two outs in the game and took the loss.

Salt Lake has an eight-game road trip before returning to Smith’s Ballpark on the Fourth of July for a series with Tacoma.
