ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Ian Kinsler has homered in his first at-bat as an opponent in Texas.

The Detroit Tigers second baseman went deep in the first inning Tuesday night.

When introduced before his first at-bat, there were more cheers than boos from Rangers fans. He was traded in November for Prince Fielder, who is out for the season after neck surgery last month.

Kinsler said before the game that he had wanted to end his career with Texas, where he played his first eight seasons.

After hitting a 1-1 pitch from Colby Lewis into the left-field seats, Kinsler did a slight wave with his right hand toward the Rangers dugout. While there appeared to be no reaction from his former team, Kinsler had a smile on his face rounding the bases.
