In all, Israel says it struck nine military targets and "direct hits were confirmed." The targets were located near the site of Sunday's violence in the Golan Heights.

BAGHDAD (AP) — There appears to be no end in sight for the growing sectarian violence in Iraq. Also Sunday, Sunni insurgents captured two border crossings. They've seized four towns in Anbar province since Friday.

SEATTLE (AP) — Friends are mourning a well-known outdoors writer and wilderness inspiration who'd been missing for three days on Mount Rainier. Searchers found a woman's body on Saturday. VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Officials suspect foul play in the deaths of two inmates at a federal prison in Southern California. ATHENS, Greece (AP) — The Greek Coast Guard says it has found nearly a ton of heroin stashed in a suburban Athens warehouse. The discovery follows another 1-ton seizure in the Athens area on June 12.
