ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greek Coast Guard officials say they have uncovered a nearly 1-ton stash of heroin at a warehouse in an eastern Athens suburb.

The 986.6-kilogram (2,175-pound) stash was seized Saturday night. Another 1,133.4 kilograms (almost 2,500 pounds) was seized June 12 at two locations in the Athens area, the largest heroin seizure ever in Greece with an estimated value of $30 million.

The coast guard said Sunday that both heroin stashes had been transported to Greece by the tanker, Noor One, which got the drugs from "the territorial waters between Oman and Pakistan."

The tanker's 11 crew members have all been arrested.

The Greek Coast Guard says it cooperated with the Athens office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in locating and seizing the heroin.
