BAGHDAD (AP) — Sunni insurgents are grabbing more territory in Iraq. Fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, are expanding their offensive in the volatile Anbar province in the western part of the country. They've captured three strategic towns there and a border crossing with Syria. It's the latest blow against Iraq's Shiite-led government in Baghdad.

MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK, Wash. (AP) — Rescuers on Mount Rainier are suspending their search for 70-year-old Karen Sykes, a well-known outdoors writer who hasn't been seen since she separated from her hiking partner on Wednesday. The National Park Service isn't giving an explanation and says it'll release more information as it can. Her partner reported Sykes missing.

NEW YORK (AP) — Bad weather and poor visibility may have been factors in a suburban New York plane crash that killed a great grandson of Standard Oil co-founder John D. Rockefeller. The National Transportation Safety Board says Richard Rockefeller was flying in dark, rainy and foggy conditions June 13 when his Piper Meridian crashed just after takeoff from a Westchester airport. The 65-year-old doctor had logged more than 5,000 hours in the air.

URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) — An establishment Republican will be the GOP candidate for a House seat in one of the nation's most competitive congressional districts. David Young, a former chief of staff for Sen. Chuck Grassley, was nominated today in Iowa's 3rd District. It's a setback for the state's tea party and libertarian forces. Young will face a Democratic former state senator in November.

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) — Katie Couric is a married woman again. The former Today" co-host and CBS anchor married the New York financier she'd been dating for some two years in a small ceremony today at her East Hampton, New York, home. People magazine reports Couric and John Molner exchanged vows in front of 50 guests. Couric is now the global anchor for Yahoo News.
