ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Rangi led the all the way to win the $60,000 feature by a length at Santa Anita on Friday.
Ridden for the first time by Kent Desormeaux, Rangi ran 6 1/2 furlongs on the downhill turf course in 1:12.86 and paid $9.20, $5 and $4.20.
Royal F J returned $6.40 and $3.80, while Giant Ego was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $8.80 to show.
The victory, worth $36,000, increased Rangi's career earnings to $123,552, with three wins in 21 starts.
