RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (AP) — The Alabama Department of Public Health says 14 people who ate in a Russellville restaurant two weeks ago have tested positive for salmonella.

Assistant State Health Officer Karen Landers said Friday all 14 were customers at El Patron restaurant on June 4 and 5. Some were hospitalized because of the illness, but none remains hospitalized.

Landers says the health department has not connected the outbreak to any specific food.

The health department closed the restaurant after the illnesses began and it remained closed Friday. Landers says the business could reopen if it takes corrective actions and passes an inspection.
