LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say two children died in a Las Vegas house fire early Thursday morning after becoming trapped in a bedroom.
Clark County Fire Department Deputy Chief Jon Klassen says police officers entered the large, 1-story house, but were unable to locate a 4-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl due to "untenable conditions" inside.
He says firefighters who arrived a short time later were able to remove the children through a window, but both were immediately pronounced dead at the scene.
Klassen says two adults tried to put out the fire by applying water through the window and were transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
The cause of the 1:10 a.m. fire in the northwest part of the valley is under investigation.
No other injuries were reported.
