TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Josh Cornfield, a regional desk editor for The Associated Press and veteran newspaper newsroom leader, has been named the AP's news editor for New Jersey.
The appointment was announced Thursday by Karen Testa, editor for the East region of the U.S., and Pennsylvania/New Jersey Editor Larry Rosenthal.
"Josh brings a powerful combination of smart leadership, competitive fire and sharp editing to our team in New Jersey," Testa said. "He will help lead distinctive coverage that sets apart the AP across formats in the state and beyond."
Cornfield has been editing stories and helping guide coverage of late-breaking news in the 10-state East region, including New Jersey, since late 2013.
He was national news editor at the daily commuter newspaper Metro US from 2008 until 2010, when he joined the Philadelphia Daily News as an assistant city editor. He later became digital editor for the Daily News.
"Josh has distinguished himself through not only his strong editing but also his aggressive pursuit of breaking news at all hours of the day and his ability to see where stories can and should be taken," Rosenthal said.
Cornfield, 32, spent several years as a reporter in the Philadelphia area starting in 2004, including at The Trentonian and the Delaware County Daily Times.
He is a native of Philadelphia and received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Temple University.
