COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a northern Idaho man ignored commands to drop a gun and instead exchanged gunfire with three Coeur d'Alene police officers, leading to his death.

Idaho State Police say in a release on Tuesday that their initial investigation found that the three officers exchanged shots with 28-year-old Thomas L. White of Coeur d'Alene on June 6.

White was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coeur d'Alene Police Sgt. Greg Moore and officers Johann Schmitz and Jacob Nielsen have been placed on administrative leave. None of the officers were injured.

Authorities say police responded to a domestic dispute and located White at a neighbor's residence, where the shooting occurred.

Results of an autopsy on White are pending, and detectives are continuing to investigate.
