LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Utah authorities say a 6-year-old boy found chained to a bed while his father was at work probably was shackled like that each of the past 10 days since school ended. Logan City's Police Chief says the boy had some water and snacks and just enough slack to reach the bathroom. The boy has been placed in custody of state child protective services.

UNDATED (AP) — A woman is pleading guilty to several charges after she was accused of helping her husband dump their teenage baby sitter in the woods. Prosecutors say 41-year-old Dea Millerberg and her husband, Eric Millerberg, had a drug-fueled, salacious sexual relationship with 16-year-old Alexis Rasmussen that led to her death from an overdose in 2011. Dea Millerberg will be sentenced Aug. 21.

FORT DUCHESNE, Utah (AP) — A Utah man is dead and two teenage boys have been wounded in a shooting on the Uintah-Ouray Indian Reservation in northeastern Utah. An FBI special agent tells the Deseret News there was a confrontation between two groups. Crews rushed 23-year-old Evan Cuch to Uintah Basin Medical Center in Roosevelt, where medical workers pronounced him dead.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — The Western Governors' Association has selected Nevada Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval as its new chairman. The selection came on the last day of a three-day annual conference in Colorado Springs. The conference has included discussions on dealing with wildfires, drought, and energy development in the West. Ten Western governors attended the conference.
