LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a Nevada prison inmate has died at a Las Vegas hospice from a chronic medical condition.

Charles Smith, who died Saturday, was hospitalized late April and had been at the hospice since late May.

The 53-year-old Smith was serving a 31- to 96-month sentence for attempted burglary and attempted possession of a credit card without consent of a cardholder. He had been in prison since December.

The nature of his medical condition was not disclosed.

An autopsy will be conducted.
