Marshall appoints liberal arts dean

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — The interim dean of Marshall University's College of Liberal Arts has been given the permanent job.

The university announced Robert Bookwalter's appointment Wednesday. It is effective July 1.

Bookwalter has served as the interim dean since June 1, 2013. He joined the Department of Speech, which has since been renamed Communications Studies, in 1987. His teaching and research interests are in the areas of peace and conflict studies, interpersonal communication, group dynamics, leadership and language.
