The black boxes were recovered late last night when an investigator was lowered to the burned cockpit. Katz's Gulfstream jet crashed during takeoff at Hanscom Field.

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott says President Barack Obama's plan to slash U.S. greenhouse gas emissions takes sensible steps. Abbott wants to remove Australia's unpopular carbon tax on industrial polluters, but his conservative government faces resistance in the Senate. The tax was introduced by a previous government in 2012 as a transitional measure before Australia joined the European Union's carbon emissions trading plan in mid-2015.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Former Charlotte, North Carolina Mayor Patrick Cannon is expected to plead guilty in federal court today to a public corruption charge that could send him to prison until 2034. The 47-year-old Democrat resigned shortly after his arrest in March.
