PRICE, Utah (AP) — Authorities are trying to find whoever is responsible for vandalizing a popular rock art panel northeast of Price. The Colorado Plateau Archaeological Alliance says visitors at the site Sunday found the initials "JMN" etched into the rock near an image of a pregnant buffalo. The group says it tracked down the license plate number of a vehicle seen in the area and a description of the people inside to give to authorities.
CARLIN, Nev. (AP) — Elko County Commissioner Grant Gerber saddled up his horse before sunrise yesterday and set out with his son on a 70-mile trek across northern Nevada to protest livestock grazing reductions on federal land. Their destination is Carson City by week's end to present a petition to Gov. Brian Sandoval urging the removal of Doug Furtado as head of the BLM's Battle Mountain District.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say they've arrested a woman suspected of starting a small fire at a Woods Cross home. South Davis Metro Fire Chief Jeff Bassett says 30-year-old Brittany Sessions was arrested yesterday on suspicion of arson stemming from a small house fire.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will soon begin searching for a place in southwest Utah to construct a cemetery for rural Utah veterans. Officials will be looking this summer for three to six acres near an existing cemetery between St. George and Cedar City. If a new facility was built near Cedar City, it would likely receive veterans from nearby cities such as St. George and Las Vegas.
