SALT LAKE CITY- Justin Thomas tossed six solid innings and Matt Long was 3-4 at the plate as the Salt Lake Bees topped the Albuquerque Isotopes 7-4 in front of a crowd of 15,306 on Prevention Dimension's Kids Day at Smith's Ballpark. In his first win since April 7, Thomas tied his season high with eight strikeouts and his season low with two earned runs.

Yoslan Herrera put together two scoreless innings on the mound in relief for the Bees with Cory Rasmus closing out the ninth. Long added two stolen bases to his offensive effort, tying him for first in the PCL in stolen bags with 14, while also knocking in four runs. Kole Calhoun and Shawn O'Malley each chipped in two base hits.

"As we start to get healthy, and as the Major League team starts to get healthier, we are starting to get some of our guys back and strengthen the bullpen," said Salt Lake manager Keith Johnson. "Matty [Long] is starting to get out of his early-season funk and starting to sprinkle some multi-hit games it there. It's going to be fun to watch moving forward."

Tuesday, the Los Angeles Angels also announced that five-time All-Star and 2010 American League MVP Josh Hamilton will join the Bees on Thursday to begin a Major League rehabilitation assignment.

The Los Angeles Angels announced that five-time All-Star and 2010 American League MVP Josh Hamilton will join the Bees on Thursday to begin a Major League rehabilitation assignment.

"Josh Hamilton is arguably the highest profile player at this stage of his career to play for the Bees," said Marc Amicone, general manager of the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate for the Angels. "We welcome him to Salt Lake City, hope for a successful rehabilitation stint and encourage Bees fans to come out to Smith's Ballpark to watch a hitting superstar in person."

The Angels slugger will be playing in his first live game since undergoing surgery to correct a torn ligament in his thumb. Hamilton suffered the injury on April 8 against Seattle while sliding into first base. Before the injury the left-handed slugger was hitting .444 for the Halos over the first eight games of the season.
