BOISE, Idaho (AP) — At the forefront of tomorrow's Idaho primary election is a closely contested gubernatorial race between two-term incumbent Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter and state Sen. Russ Fulcher. Like most of the incumbents running for re-election for a statewide post, Otter faces a challenger favored by the tea party. Tea party favorites are also running competitive races for secretary of state, superintendent of public instruction and attorney general.
LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — Two people suspected of robbing a western Idaho bank have been arrested in Lewiston after Idaho County officials received an anonymous tip about someone matching the description of the robber spending a lot of cash at a casino. The Lewiston Tribune reports officers arrested 35-year-old Rocky Fisher of Nampa and 19-year-old Jennifer Balfe of Meridian yesterday as they walked out of a motel room in Lewiston.
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — State and federal agencies plan to start pushing bison into Yellowstone National Park tomorrow in an annual effort to keep the migrating animals away from cattle in southwestern Montana. Montana officials say unlike previous years, there is no plan to use a helicopter. That practice had drawn lawsuits from environmental groups but was upheld by a federal appeals court last year.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The oldest active school in northern Idaho's Coeur d'Alene region is set to be torn down at the end of June. Park Elementary School was built in the early 1900s. The name later was changed to Winton Elementary School. The Coeur d'Alene Press it will be replaced by a new building in 2015.
