NEW YORK, Jun 8, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A minor accident injured a cast member during Broadway's "The Pajama Game," causing a 27-minute interruption in the performance.

The accident happened during a Wednesday night scene change when two desks being moved onto the stage collided, the New York Times reported Thursday. Roz Ryan, who plays Mabel, was sitting in a chair behind one of the desks and was slightly injured.

Star Harry Connik Jr. kept the crowd occupied by singing "Happy Birthday" to an audience member and conducting a sort of question-and-answer session.

Connick also talked about the future of his native New Orleans and his high school career, the Times said.

A spokesman for the production said one of the chains used to move scenery broke, causing the desks to collide.

Once the problem was fixed, Connick left the stage and the show resumed with Ryan in her role.
