NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City cab driver who wore a swastika armband while on the job has been suspended for 30 days.
The city's Taxi and Limousine Commission suspended Gabriel Diaz's operator's license Friday after a Jewish group and others complained.
Diaz tells the Daily News (http://nydn.us/1nST2uw) he believes in the "ideology of National Socialism" and will continue to show off the Nazi symbol when he's not at work. He says: If a Muslim can drive a cab wearing a turban and "a homosexual can walk around with a big rainbow flag" why can't he wear a Nazi armband?
The Anti-Defamation League calls Diaz's armband a "frightening and offensive" message. It commends the city for taking quick action.
