BOISE, Idaho (AP) — State economists are saying that by next year, Idaho employment should return to its levels before the Great Recession. The Division of Financial Management says Idaho should have 670,000 jobs next year, up from 639,000 in 2013. The state forecast says personal income growth should average 3.7 percent a year through 2017.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Boise police have arrested a man in connection with a double homicide and are searching for another suspect. Thirty-four-year-old Samari Winn was charged Friday with two counts of murder after a Thursday attack on three people. The Idaho Statesman reports that 28-year-old Elliott Bailey and 27-year-old Travontae Calloway died at a hospital of multiple gunshot wounds. A third victim is being treated.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A former Idaho prosecutor has been acquitted of bankruptcy fraud in federal court. The Idaho Statesman reports the Friday verdict came after four days of testimony on charges that John Bujak concealed a high-priced Rolex watch from creditors and lied about it during a personal bankruptcy case. Bujak is running for governor as an independent.
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Idaho State University officials are removing a giant letter "I'' from a Pocatello hill because it's considered too dangerous to hikers and other people passing by. The Idaho State Journal reports work is expected to start around May 19. The "I'' had become cracked and unstable, and ISU officials were concerned that erosion on the hillside could worsen the problems. ISU spokeswoman Adrienne King says a committee is working on ideas to replace the symbol.
