CINCINNATI, Jun 7, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Forty-four pieces of Rookwood pottery and western art from the estate of former Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott are up for auction.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports among the items is a Charles Schreyvogel painting, "Saving the Dispatch," expected to go for more than $1 million.
Auctioneer Wes Cowan said the collection also includes a gouache by Henry Famy worth $500,000 to $700,000, eight works by Joseph Henry Sharp, two Rookwood glaze plaques exhibited at the 1893 Columbian Exposition and a 1902 Baldwin concert grand piano, which one the grand prize at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis.
Proceeds from the sale are to go to Schott's foundation. The colorful baseball team owner was 75 when she died in 2004.
