MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Misdemeanor charges have been filed against a woman who drove into a suburban Minneapolis retention pond last November, killing two children and injuring three others.
St. Louis Park prosecutors on Tuesday charged 23-year-old Marion Guerrido with driving without insurance, violating the requirements of her learner's permit and failing to properly use child safety restraints.
Guerrido was driving the five children when she lost control on a wet road, overcorrected and slid into the St. Louis Park pond. Prosecutors say Guerrido wasn't speeding, using a cellphone or doing anything else that would have constituted a felony.
A family attorney, Rick Perry, tells the Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/QdBXwq ) the three surviving children are doing pretty well and are back at school.
