PERKINSTON, Miss. (AP) — After five seasons at the helm, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College head baseball coach Gary Rath has resigned. The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1mBCXFj ) the announcement came Tuesday after the Long Beach native met with community college administrators.
Rath came to Gulf Coast as an assistant in 2009 and became head baseball coach in 2010. During that time his teams won 126 games and went to the postseason four straight times (2010-2013) with the 2012 team coming in second at the MACJC Tournament.
Dr. Ladd Taylor, Gulf Coast Dean of Athletics and Perkinston Campus interim vice president, said the college will begin the search for a new head baseball coach immediately
