SION, Switzerland (AP) — Michael Albasini of Switzerland won a second stage shortened by snow at the Tour of Romandie on Wednesday, while Michal Kwiatkowski of Poland retained the overall lead.

Albasini, riding for Orica-Green Edge, timed 2 hours, 11 minutes, 11 seconds on the 88-kilometer (54.7-mile) stage which started in mid-afternoon after racers were transported beyond the snowy Simplon Pass.

Albasini edged Spain's Jesus Herrada and Ramunas Navardauskas of Lithuania in the same time after they reeled in Frenchman Thomas Voeckler's late break.

Kwiatkowski finished in the pack to lead by five seconds overall from Albasini.

Defending champion Chris Froome of Britain is 10th, trailing Kwiatkowski by 14 seconds with four days remaining.

Vincenzo Nibal, the 2013 Giro d'Italia winner, broke clear but was caught two kilometers from the finish.
