World eBook Library and Project Gutenberg are to provide free access for a month to 300,000 texts online in the first World eBook Fair.
According to The Associated Press, the majority of the books will be contributed by the World eBook Library, which otherwise charges USD8.95 a year for access to its database.
The downloads will reportedly be available at the fair's website at http://worldebookfair.com from 4 July through to 4 August.
The texts provided by Project Gutenberg are generally those that are not protected by copyright and they include fiction, non-fiction and reference books.
