ELLIJAY, Ga. (AP) — With a few hundred gun rights supporters cheering him, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has signed a bill that widely expands where licensed gun owners can carry their weapons. Instead of the Capitol, Deal signed the measure at a barbecue about 80 miles north of Atlanta. Starting in July, guns can be taken into bars, and under certain circumstances, into some churches, schools and government buildings.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah say they'll form a unity government and hold new elections after seven years of conflict. Crowds in Gaza responded by raising Palestinian flags. But there is condemnation from Washington and Israel because one of the factions, Hamas, is considered a terrorist group. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled a planned meeting between Israeli and Palestinian peace negotiators.

OPAL, Wyo. (AP) — A small town in southwest Wyoming has been evacuated after an explosion and fire at a natural gas pipeline hub. A spokesman for Lincoln County says there are no reports of injuries and the residents of the town of Opal have been evacuated to an area about 3 miles outside the town as a precaution. Opal has about 95 residents and is about 100 miles northeast of Salt Lake City.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — It's another legal defeat for the doctor convicted of the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson. The California Supreme Court refused to review Dr. Conrad Murray's conviction. A state appeals court upheld his conviction earlier this year and then refused to reconsider its decision. Murray's lawyer says he'll take his client's case to federal court.

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago is celebrating the 100th birthday of iconic Wrigley Field. There was a giant replica birthday cake. Chicago sports legends Ernie Banks, Dick Butkus and Gale Sayers were present. On the field, the Cubs and Diamondbacks went retro, wearing throwback 1914 jerseys. Unfortunately, the day ended with another loss. The Cubs fell 7-5 after blowing a ninth-inning lead.
