Don Brinkerhoff reportingA new study says millions of Americans have a temper disorder that causes their road rage.
Most would call it road rage, but the chairman of psychology at the University of Chicago says that it is actually a mental disorder.
Dr. Emil Kakaro says temper outbursts involving throwing or breaking things may be an indication of Intermittent Explosive Disorder or IED. The study indicates that somewhere between five to seven percent of U.S. residents may be suffering from IED, a percentage higher than the better known schizophrenia and bi-polar disorders.
Most of the people studied also report other emotional problems or addictions to alcohol and drugs.
