SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Symphony has announced it will play against southern Utah's soaring red rocks and canyons this August.
The 75-piece orchestra will tour five of the state's national parks in a series of free concerts at Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands.
The list also includes Bryce Canyon and Zion national parks.
Music Director Thierry Fischer will lead works designed to complement the environment.
Fischer says the stunning views and classical music make a natural pair.
The performances are sponsored by the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, the state Legislature and the Sorenson Legacy Foundation.
Other businesses are helping to foot the bill, including O.C. Tanner, Zions Bank, Questar, and Chevron.
Chamber music performances will also take place at visitor centers and outdoor amphitheaters along the tour route.
