FACEBOOK-BURGLARY
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — For sale: Wedding dress. But a Wyoming woman says it was her stolen wedding dress she spotted for sale on Facebook. The dress was among the items swiped from a home north of Rock Springs in February. The woman reported the dress posting to Sweetwater County deputies. An undercover investigator bought the dress at a garage sale. Authorities report busting Leon Lynch on suspicion of theft and other charges.
DANCE FLOOR MEMORIES
HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) — It's a senior prom -- with senior citizens. Nebraska high school students hosted residents of assisted living centers in the Hastings area. It was the sixth annual Senior Prom at Adams Central High, sponsored by the Future Business Leaders of America club. The students and their guests did the waltz, polka and two-step. The kids also taught the seniors some contemporary dance moves. Eliza Donley, an Adams Central sophomore, was impressed. She tells the Hastings Tribune the older folks "are really good dancers."
SMITHSONIAN-TYRANNOSAURUS REX
WASHINGTON (AP) — It's a 2,000-mile, 66-million-year journey. A nearly complete T. rex skeleton was unveiled yesterday at the National Museum of Natural History. The dinosaur bones were discovered in Montana and is one of only about a-half dozen nearly complete T. rex skeletons. The Tyrannosaurus rex has teeth as big as bananas. The T. rex made the trip to Washington in a special temperature-controlled FedEx truck. It will be the centerpiece of the Smithsonian's renovated dinosaur hall, due to open in about five years.
NYC MAYOR-INTERNS
NEW YORK (AP) — They aren't paid, but they will be getting protection. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has signed legislation that makes sure the city's law against discrimination applies to interns. City Council members proposed the law after a female intern found she couldn't sue a TV station because she wasn't considered an employee. The working conditions for unpaid interns have been drawing attention lately. Several lawsuits have been filed against music companies and other industries over wage issues.
DRONE ARREST
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) — A legal battle over a drone is taking off. An Ohio man is facing charges after deputies say he was flying a video camera-equipped drone at an accident scene. Authorities say Kele Stanley was interfering with the landing of a medevac helicopter. Stanley says the charges aren't fair. He says he's no idiot and would have landed his $4,000 drone immediately if he knew the chopper was on the way. Stanley is facing a felony count of obstructing official business and other charges. He pleaded innocent during a court appearance earlier this week.
NEW SPONGE SPECIES
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Spongebob has some new company. Scientists using a remote-controlled robot submersible have discovered a new species of sponge in deep waters off San Diego. But it won't be much of a pal for Spongebob Squarepants. U-T San Diego reports the newly discovered sponge is poisonous. Researchers from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute say the strange sponge is a twig-like carnivore. The scientists add killer sponges sound like creatures from a B-grade horror movie. But the sponge is uniquely adapted to thrive in the lightless depths.
