SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police have identified a 14-year-old skateboarder who died after colliding with a pickup truck in Salt Lake City last week. Salt Lake City police say Juan Carlos Zuniga was riding a skateboard westbound at a high speed on Friday afternoon when he passed a stop sign, entered an intersection and struck a northbound pickup truck.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The University of Utah has named Keith Diaz Moore from the University of Kansas as the new dean of its College of Architecture and Planning. Moore replaces Brenda Case Scheer, who resigned last year. The Salt Lake Tribune reports Scheer plans to return to the college as a professor after a sabbatical.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Nick Young scored a season-high 41 points and helped the Los Angeles Lakers snap a seven-game losing streak with a 119-104 victory against the Utah Jazz last night. Alec Burks scored 22 points and Gordon Hayward had 21 points for Utah. Enes Kanter had 19 points and 12 rebounds and Trey Burke chipped in 17 for the Jazz, who have lost 10 of 11 games.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — One of the largest steam locomotives ever built is coming back to life. The Union Pacific Railroad plans to restore an engine known as a Big Boy. It was a 6,300-horsepower monster designed to drag heavy freight trains over the Wyoming and Utah mountains. It will be towed this month to Cheyenne, where the work will be done at Union Pacific's steam shop.
