SAN DIEGO (AP) — Colorado Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer crashed into the right-field message board Monday night and left the game with a bruised right elbow.

Cuddyer was backpedaling on a fly ball from San Diego's Alexi Amarista in the fifth inning when he lost his balance as he reached over his head in an attempt to make the catch. The ball went over Cuddyer's head and hit on the warning track before bouncing off the wall. Cuddyer fell backward hard into the wall and slumped on the track.

Amarista wound up with a triple, and after a few minutes with the Rockies trainer and manager Walt Weiss, Cuddyer was removed from the game.
