PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (AP) — The remains of seven babies found in cardboard boxes in a Pleasant Grove garage have been sent to the state medical examiner while the mother faces murder charges. Investigators say 39-year-old Megan Huntsman gave birth to the children between 1996 and 2006. She's been charged with six counts of murder. It's not known why there were six, and not seven, counts.
MILLVILLE, Utah (AP) — Sheriff's deputies say they plan to pursue negligent homicide charges against 40-year-old motorist accused of driving drunk and killing the co-owner of a Logan coffee company. Randy Wirth died Saturday from injuries suffered in the three-vehicle crash Thursday in Millville. He was riding a motorcycle when he was struck.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A judge is ordering the Davis County Sheriff to stop taking money from inmate accounts to pay for their lodging and medical expenses. The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reports that Judge Michael Allphin says the sheriff's office needs authorization from a judge in order to take money from the accounts that inmates typically use for food and other personal items.
PANGUITCH, Utah (AP) — A man and his two sons were rescued after being stranded for three days in a Garfield County canyon. Sheriff's deputies say 35-year-old Jason Knight became trapped inside the narrow canyon, while his 8- and 11-year-old sons were on a ledges about 150 yards away. Sheriff's deputies say the boys were dehydrated, but otherwise everyone was OK.
