WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is offering condolences to the families of the three people killed in Sunday's shootings outside a Jewish community center and a retirement village in Kansas. He calls the shootings "heartbreaking" and is pledging the full support of the government during what he calls "this trying time." A doctor and his teenage grandson are among the dead. A man in his 70's has been arrested.

UNDATED (AP) — Ukraine's government says it's sending in troops to try to quash a pro-Russian insurgency in the eastern part of the country, despite repeated warnings from the Kremlin. Ukraine's president is accusing Moscow of fomenting the unrest. In an emergency session of the U.N. Security Council late Sunday, Russia's ambassador denied claims that Moscow is behind the violence.

VALPARAISO, Chile (AP) — Authorities in Chile say at least 12 people are dead and at least 2,000 homes destroyed in a raging fire jumping along the hilltops in the port city of Valparaiso. With hot dry winds stoking the embers, some of the fires have re-ignited and are burning out of control for a second night. The fire began Saturday afternoon. More than 10,000 people have been evacuated.

PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (AP) — A Utah woman accused of killing seven babies she gave birth to over 10 years was arrested Sunday and is in custody after police discovered the tiny bodies in the garage of her former home. Investigators say 29-year-old Megan Huntsman who lived in the Pleasant Grove home until three years ago had the infants between 1996 and 2006.

UNDATED (AP) — Federal land managers are pledging to pursue efforts to resolve a conflict with a Nevada rancher who has refused to pay grazing fees for 20 years. A Bureau of Land Management spokesman says "the door isn't closed" to resolving the matter involving the rancher "administratively and judicially." The conflict has widened into a debate about states' rights and federal land-use policy.
