PERTH, Australia (AP) — American-born power forward Shawn Redhage scored 16 points and former Vanderbilt University guard Jermaine Beal added 15 as the Perth Wildcats beat the Adelaide 36ers 93-59 in the third and deciding game Sunday to win their record sixth National Basketball League championship.
Beal won the most valuable player of the series award. He has played previously in the NBA Development League and on teams in Poland, Belgium and Brazil.
Anthony Petrie led Adelaide with 20 points.
Redhage, from Jacksonville, Florida, has been playing in the NBL since 2004 and is a four-time league all-star. He became an Australian citizen in 2008.
The previous matches were all close results — Perth won the opener 92-85 before Adelaide leveled the series with an 89-84 win.
