MONTICELLO, Iowa (AP) — Tara Fall says she can see just fine following a stroke she suffered some years earlier. But she can't recognize faces; not even those of her husband and children.
The 38-year-old California woman, who grew up in eastern Iowa's Monticello, says she gradually developed prospagnosia — the neurological disorder known as "face blindness" — following the stroke.
Fall described her daily ordeal Friday at Loras College in Dubuque.
The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1iGWeTv ) that Fall knew how bad her condition had become when she helped an elderly lady at work — and failed to recognize the woman as her mother.
Fall's husband wears a yellow Iowa Hawkeyes cap, so she can find him in a crowd. She says she finds her daughters based on the clothes they wear.
