SULPHUR, La. (AP) — Calcasieu Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested a middle school student for bringing a gun to school.
Deputies say the 14-year-old was arrested Thursday.
Officials at W. W. Lewis Middle School in Sulphur called authorities on Wednesday when students reported to the assistant principal that a male student had brought a gun to school and was showing it to other students.
Deputies were at the school Thursday morning when the student arrived and they found an unloaded handgun in the waistband of the student.
The student was booked with possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds.
