MEMPHIS SCHOOL LOCKDOWN

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are searching East High School after a report of armed people there. Police spokeswoman Karen Rudolph said the school board received a call Friday morning saying four armed people were inside the school. By Adrian Sainz. SENT: 70 words. Will be updated.

CALIFORNIA BUS CRASH

ORLAND, Calif. — A FedEx tractor-trailer crossed over a grassy median on a Northern California freeway and slammed into a bus carrying 44 high school students in an explosive crash that left 10 people dead, authorities said. Among the students on the trip to visit Humboldt State University was Steven Clavijo, 18, a senior at West Ranch High in Santa Clarita, who planned to enroll in the school. Just as Clavijo was trying to catch a nap Thursday afternoon, he said he felt the big vehicle begin to shake from left to right and then he heard a loud boom. By Fenit Nirappil and Channing Joseph. CHANGING TIRE-DEATH

SMYRNA, Tenn. — A 13-year-old boy who was trying to change a flat tire alongside Interstate 24 in Smyrna has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Miller says Clifton Braunwalder of Lascassas died and his mother, Sondra Braunwalder, was injured and taken to a local hospital. SENT: 250 words.
