LAS VEGAS (AP) — North Las Vegas officials say all four of its public employee labor unions have reached tentative agreements with the city that are aimed at staving off a takeover by the state. Mayor John Lee announced deals with two police unions yesterday, in addition to agreements with Teamsters and firefighters.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Former New Mexico Sen. Pete Domenici will host a political fundraiser next Thursday in Albuquerque for Nevada Attorney General Candidate Adam Laxalt, the son he secretly fathered out of wedlock in the 1970s. The former senator told the Albuquerque Journal that his son asked him to host the fundraiser and that he's pleased to do it.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Former Nevada Assembly Speaker Joe Dini has died at the age of 85. Dini's death was announced yesterday during a meeting of the Legislature's Interim Finance Committee. The Yerington Democrat was elected to the Assembly in 1967. He served through 2002 in a career that made him the longest serving assemblyman in state history.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The UNLV Rebels football team will not be eligible for the Mountain West championship game or a bowl berth in 2014. The university says the NCAA has rejected its final appeal of sanctions for the failure of football players to improve their grades. UNLV President Donald Snyder said the university will use this "as an opportunity to improve."
