World indoor champion Mutaz Barshim is looking right past the Diamond League season-opener in his Doha hometown next month to focus on the Asian Games.

Barshim says on Wednesday he's training to peak in September for the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. That's the "target for us," the Olympic bronze medalist says.

He'll aim to clear 2.40 meters — two centimeters than his best and three short of the record — on May 9 at the Diamond League Doha, but winning is not "our goal" at this time, he added.

Barshim won at the world indoor championships last month in Sopot, Poland, tying a career-best 2.38, the same height that won him silver at last year's world indoors in Moscow.
