LADY GAGA PERFORMS FOR HER 28TH BIRTHDAY

NEW YORK (AP) — It was Lady Gaga's birthday. But it was fans of hers who got a gift from her: an hour-long performance at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. The show Friday was the first of seven shows she will do at the venue. She thanked the audience for sharing the special day with her, declaring her 28th was her "best birthday ever." Gaga will be at Roseland through April 7, after which the venue will close. Among those who have performed at Roseland over the years include The Rolling Stones, Madonna and Beyonce, who did four shows there while she was pregnant.

MORE KURT COBAIN PHOTOS RELEASED

SEATTLE (AP) — It hasn't changed anything about the investigation into Kurt Cobain's suicide. But police in Seattle have released more photos taken at the home where the Nirvana singer committed suicide 20 years ago. The newest are from four rolls of crime scene photos taken after Cobain killed himself April 8, 1994. A cold case detective developed the film in anticipation of the anniversary of Cobain's death. The new photos show a greenhouse room above the garage where Cobain killed himself. Earlier this month, police released two photos showing a box of drug paraphernalia and some of Cobain's personal items like glasses, a wallet and a pack of cigarettes.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lots of people got slimed. But One Direction got props at the Kids' Choice Awards. The boy band won two awards: favorite music group and favorite song for "Story of My Life." He wore a pair of bright yellow SpongeBob SquarePants pajamas — and got slimed.

''AMERICAN IDOL'S" MAJESTY ROSE CHOOSES TO BE HAPPY

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "American Idol" contestant Majesty Rose sang her last song on the show as if she had just won it all, when really she was about to be eliminated. Rose says when she found out she got the fewest votes and had to sing for the judges' save, she made a split decision to be happy in that moment. Rose says she was grateful for how far she had gone and she didn't even think about whether the judges would save her. They didn't. Rose doesn't seem too upset. She says she wants to keep singing and to try acting, and she'd love to be on the Disney Channel.

BRUCE DICKINSON PUTS HIS MONEY ON HUGE AIRCRAFT

LONDON (AP) — Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson is one of the investors in the world's longest aircraft. Dickinson tells the BBC the $100 million airship is "a game changer, in terms of things we can have in the air and things we can do." The craft looks like a giant blimp. It's 302 feet long, which is 60 feet longer than a Boeing 747 and two-and-a-half times longer than the distance the Wright Brothers first flew. Dickinson says it's environmentally friendly and can put down 50 tons of cargo anywhere. Dickinson, who is a licensed pilot, says he wants to fly the craft around the world twice and stream the whole trip on the Internet.

The World Cup also has an official Supersong and an official Mascot Song. The World Cup opens June 12.

NEW YORK (AP) — Chris Martin hasn't said anything publicly about his impending breakup with actress Gwyneth Paltrow. But she is. The expression of thanks is in a P.S. added to a post featuring three different ways to prepare chicken. Paltrow announced last week that she and Martin were "consciously uncoupled." Her choice of a new age to describe their split was mocked by some.

REALITY TV STAR, HIP-HOP FIGURE, SHOT BY FAMILY MEMBER

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — It sounds more like something out of a scripted TV show. But police in Massachusetts says it went down in the life of reality TV star Benzino. Authorities say the cast member of "Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta" and CEO of Hip-Hop Weekly was shot while driving in a funeral procession for his mother Saturday. The suspected gunman: his nephew. Benzino is in good condition after being hit in the arm with one bullet and grazed by another. The nephew was arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder.
