LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — A New Mexico State University Regents professor has been selected to serve on an advisory committee that works with the nation's top health officials.
The university says Elba Serrano is among 20 people selected to serve on the panel, which provides advice to the National Institutes of Health director, the secretary of Health and Human Services and the assistant secretary for health.
Serrano says it'll be an honor and an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of the nation's biomedical research and human health mission.
The committee meets twice a year and makes recommendations on a broad range of topics.
At NMSU, Serrano has brought in more than $15 million in external research funding. She has received numerous honors and awards and serves on a number of national advisory boards.
