TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Idaho added mental health records to a national FBI database, making it easier for background checks to discover if would-be gun owners have a history of mental illness. Until last year, Idaho was one of 17 states that submitted only a fraction of records, making it difficult to know whether people were telling the truth about mental problems.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say an Idaho woman spent hours trapped in her vehicle after it went off a highway and plunged down in a ravine in southeast Oregon. Troopers say Tarah Colwell of Meridian was treated and released Wednesday night at a hospital in Caldwell. Highway workers spotted the vehicle at about 7 p.m. Colwell told them she had been stuck in the damaged vehicle since early that morning.

Owyhee County Sheriff Perry Grant says 21-year-old Sara Dawn Bronson of Melba died at the scene Wednesday. A 35-year-old man and two children were injured in the crash.
CHUBBUCK, Idaho (AP) — A pit bull-terrier mix named Angel has been declared a vicious dog after attacking a 3-year-old Chubbuck girl. Police tell KIFI-TV the girl received bite wounds to her leg and bites to her face deep enough to cause damage to her gums in the March 16 attack. The dog owner has the option of euthanizing the dog, moving it out of the city, or getting liability insurance.
