LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a 29-year-old Las Vegas officer who shot and wounded a woman who was wielding a knife. Police say Officer Esmeralda Boveda is on paid administrative leave while officials investigate the Friday night confrontation. The woman who was shot was hospitalized and faces several charges.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nearly 1,300 federally subsidized flood insurance policies in Nevada are set to feel the sting of flood insurance rate hikes, despite a rate relief law President Barack Obama signed Friday. An Associated Press review shows more than 900 homeowners in Nevada face premium increases of up to 18 percent, and 380 business and second home policy holders face 25 percent rate hikes.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A man accused of firing a gun during a backstage robbery attempt in the Thunder From Down Under dressing area appeared in a Las Vegas court today. Joey Kadmiri had visible injuries on his face from being subdued by several performers at the Excalibur hotel casino last week. A judge set a preliminary hearing for April 7.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The specialty license plate marking Nevada's 150th birthday is shaping up to be a hit. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports over 6,000 of the plates have been issued as of March 15, and nearly 900 more have been ordered. The commemorative plate features a blue field with a logo and the state motto, "Battle Born."
