LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County school officials say a search warrant was served at district offices as part of an investigation into possible misuse of public funds by an Adult English Language Acquisition program.
District spokeswoman Melina Malone says program director Priscilla Rocha was suspended Wednesday, the same day as the Las Vegas police search, although Malone didn't say why.
District Chief of Staff Kirsten Searer tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal (http://bit.ly/1r0a4GM) that school officials had received a complaint in December 2013 regarding possible misuse of public funds in the program.
She says school police conducted a preliminary investigation before district officials realized they needed police help.
Police did not comment on the investigation.
The program offers English classes to adults, as well as referrals to other social services.
