SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City police are trying to figure out if a weekend shooting was gang related. Lt. John Scharman says officers responded to a report of gunfire Saturday afternoon around 1250 West and 1600 South. By the time police arrived, the suspected shooters were gone. He told KSL-TV yesterday whether a teen's injury was caused by a gunshot. It was not considered life-threatening.
ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — The St. George City Council has agreed to spend $450,000 worth of federal grants to help establish a new homeless shelter and provide other services for low-income residents. City officials say they hope to build or acquire a facility that could house other services in addition the shelter, such as a food bank, counseling and employment assistance.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The newest polygamous family from Utah on reality TV says sharing their story with a wide audience has been liberating. The first of nine episodes chronicling the life of Brady Williams, his five wives and their 24 children is airing on TLC. A pilot episode aired last fall of the show, being called "My Five Wives."
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Utah State guard Jennifer Schlott has been named the 2014 Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year. The 5-foot-6 senior from Mesa, Ariz., is the first Aggie women's basketball player to earn player of the year honors. Schlott had one of the best seasons in Mountain West history, averaging 27 points per game.
