FLINT, Mich. (AP) — A group of third-graders in Genesee County spent a week away from their normal classroom recently to study at a Flint museum.

The Flint Journal reports ( http://bit.ly/1ik9sKy ) that teacher Jaime Cramer's students at Grand Blanc City School studied at Sloan Museum as part of a pilot project. She says she normally takes her students to the museum every year but this is the first time it was for a week and she was glad for the extra time.

Cramer says students spent the same amount of time studying math, reading and writing as they would have in the classroom. The common thread at the museum was technology.

Loe'l Murphy is assistant curator of programs at Sloan. She says it was a test for possible use with other schools.
