SUFFOLK, Va. (AP) — A free one-day dental clinic in Suffolk drew 500 people seeking cleanings, fillings and other care.
It's the first free clinic held in Suffolk by the Virginia Dental Association Foundation's Mission of Mercy. The goal of Saturday's clinic was to treat 500 people. Organizers met that goal and closed registration by 7:30 a.m.
A coordinator of the project, Ashley Greene, tells The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/PgbsH4 ) that the turnout shows there's a need for the free clinic in the area.
