KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysia's air force chief says there are indications from military radar that a missing Boeing 777 jet may have turned back, though it would be puzzling, if true, because there was no distress call. Scores of ships and aircraft from across Asia continue to hunt for the plane and its 239 passengers.

TOKYO (AP) — Thousands of Japanese marked the third anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster early with a protest march in Tokyo and other cities. Banging on drums and waving "Sayonara nukes" signs, protesters demanded an end to nuclear power. The demonstration Sunday, planned across cities in Japan, is one of many such protests that have erupted since the March 11, 2011, nuclear disaster.

BEIJING (AP) — China says it will pay closer attention to the environment and get tougher on polluters. The country's top legislator says environmental legislation will be tightened and polluters will have to pay compensation following renewed blasts of toxic air. The lawmaker says changes are needed to strictly supervise emissions and control pollution at the source.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — A protest against chronic food shortages in Venezuela has been stopped in its tracks, before ever reaching the Food Ministry. In a major show of force, hundreds of National Guardsmen in riot gear and armored vehicles prevented the "empty pots march" from getting very far.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans police say they're looking for a Los Angeles man accused of trying to steal a big chunk of cinderblock wall bearing a painting by the world-renowned graffiti artist Banksy. Police have a warrant to arrest Christopher Sensabaugh on charges of attempted theft and criminal damage to property. The mural, which locals call the Rain Girl or the Umbrella Girl, was painted on a vacant building and could be worth $200,000 to $1.1 million.
