SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A bill to rename a rural stretch of highway in honor of a Utah County sheriff's officer killed there has been approved by the Utah Senate. The measure would rename Utah state route 73 the "Cory B. Wride Memorial Highway." The bill now moves to the House. Wride was fatally shot on Jan. 30 in his patrol car along the highway. The suspected shooter later died when he was shot by law officers. That man's teenaged girlfriend in charged with murder. Prosecutors say she was the driver and an active participant.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A House committee that investigated former Utah Attorney General John Swallow today releases a final report of its findings. Lawmakers wrapped up their nearly $4 million investigation in December after Swallow resigned. Swallow has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and has pledged to clear his name.

FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) — A judge has ordered a Woods Cross man who pleaded guilty to child abuse to serve 150 days in jail. The Standard-Examiner reports that Judge Robert Dale said yesterday in a Farmington courtroom that he doesn't think Ryan Keith Knight has taken responsibility for what happened. Knight was charged with abusing his 6-month-old son.

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — BYU sophomore right-hander Kolton Mahoney threw the seventh no-hitter in school history, striking out 11 in a 5-0 victory over Nicholls State yesterday. Mahoney, from West Point, Utah, walked two in a 102-pitch performance for BYU's first no-hitter since John DeSilva tossed one in 1989 against Colorado State.
