LAS VEGAS (AP) — Four Clark County jail officers won't face criminal charges in a fatal struggle with an inmate more than a year ago.
Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson issued a report Thursday saying that 38-year-old jail inmate Luis Solano created a potentially dangerous disruption and the officers didn't use excessive force restraining him.
The Clark County coroner ruled Solano died of complications of suffocation due to police restraint procedures. He also noted renal failure and an enlarged heart.
Solano had been arrested Feb. 22, 2013, on a cocaine trafficking charge.
Wolfson says Solano behaved erratically and was moved to a psychiatric ward where he became unconscious during a Feb. 25 struggle with officers David Aspiazu, Bradley Temple, Patrick Gray and Eugene Dixon.
Solano died at a hospital nine days later.
